Passing the Global Test
While we're sure there is going to be a fight over who won tonight's debate, Hugh Hewitt was definitely the live blogging debate winner. Hugh calls Bush's response to Kerry on the subject of pre-emptive war: "Game, set match"

Exactely what I told my wife. Kerry won on style and even on delivery but he gave bush more material that he will know what to do with with only a month left. Initialy as we watched she did not think it was that bad but the more we talked about it she also agreed. just a crazy comment.

I find myself wishing Bush would have been more aggressive but his "Global Test" response was perfect.
He should have question the "plan" Kerry kept referring to....

"Passing the Global Test"....I guess Kofi will be checking our work?
By Anonymous, at 10:22 AM
Is a #2 pencil required to take the Global Test? Will Kofi be the test monitor, saying to "President" Kerry, "Do not turn this page until told to do so?" Who will grade said test?
By Westmont, at 10:58 AM
In what language will the "global test" be administered? French to be sure.

I wonder who will proctor this test.....Kofi'll be marking it, but we'll need others to keep their eyes on us while were taking it.

John Kerry did not win this debate, at all, and anyone tempted to say otherwise should definitely share what they're smoking.
You don't win a debate on Iraq policy by going on national television and essentially telling the American people to check out your website to find out your position.
Hello?

I think Bush had a chance to end the race but Kerry was able to stay in....Probably a draw but since he saved himself it seems like a win for Kerry.
After a few days people will realize that he didn't provide a "plan" and continued his flip-flopping...Most will decide that they do not want a Mass. liberal with Kennedy, Carter and Moore pulling "steering the boat".

10-4 to all of the above. Mostly though I believe in the long run (through the next debates) Bush will keep coming on stronger and stronger since he and his advisors will have had time to digest the Kerry remarks (20years working with "these" world leaders [yeah, which ones?], The Global Test, a plan without any detail, etc.). Bush is selling the sizzle not the steak. I am a leader - Kerry is a nuanced, overbearing, wannabe. I look out for the interests of the American people, that is my job. In reviewing the "game film" they will pick up on Kerry's tendencies (especially critical for the town hall meeting)and Bush will be better prepared. I think Kerry play all of his cards last night - Bush held his back like a good poker player will do. Winning the first pot is not "all in".

In spite of Senator Kerry's flip-flopping, there are a large number of mentally-ill people out there who--in spite of the evidence to the contrary--think the President is more of a threat to their narcissistic delusions than the terrorists...
These poor beknighted heathen think the Ten Commandments are "hate-speech"; but they don't bat an eyelash as Arabs rape and murder children in Beslan, ABBA protestors beat police into unconsciousness in New York, and George Soros spends hundreds of millions on "new society projects" instead of funding foodbanks or well-baby clinics in needy areas...
We know who they are and what they worship (hint: it's between their legs). And it should not surprise anyone that they hate those of us who do not worship their "god"...
The Bible says (in quite a number of places) human pride is an "abomination" in God's eyes. We should all remember that and be humble. Our God is worthy of our worship even if we are "thrown in the fiery furnace". But remember that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out alive, unbound, and unhurt...
Decide what you believe. Stand firm in that (as our President apparently does). Be ready to give an answer, gently, to those you believe can be restored. Vote your conscience.

I see that all of you enjoy your one sided bashings of Kerry, but check this out. One of you say that Kerry didnt go into "detail" of his plan, well 1. There was limited time and 2.Bush said much of the same about his "plans", he pretty much said THIS or THAT will work because we have a PLAN that SAYS it will. haha...yes, everything will be ok becuase our super plan SAYS SO!
And here is probably the most ridiculous thing bush said during the debate, that "One of his(Kerry) campaign people alleged that Prime Minister Allawi was like a puppet. That's no way to treat somebody who's courageous and brave."
THats right! dont you dare say anything about anyone whos seen by the president as "courageous and brave". if only everyone in the world understood simple cause and effect like bush. (we attack, we free, they love us, right? forget all about the centuries of tension and the backlash from islamic people)
comon kids, look at both sides!

"THats right! dont you dare say anything about anyone whos seen by the president as "courageous and brave"."
I take it from your comments you don't find risking your life and that of your family to help establish freedom and democracy in a very long suffering country as brave or courageous. What, pray tell, passes for brave in your world? Do you seriously think Alawi is taking the risks he is out of some sycophanitc urge to be Bush's puppet? Your comments simply expose you as cynical and narcissitic and say nothing about Alawi or Bush. Courageous men, the both of them.

"limited time"???? Kerry has had over a year to describe his plan.....and other than saying that he will bring in our allies (although nobody seems to know which ones) he hasn't offered anything that we're not already doing. I know...He'll do it better in a more sensitive way. Your right, he's got it all figured out.

Today the liberals are celebrating Kerry's "statesmanlike appearance" during the debates and how "presidential" he sounded. Do they really think that anyone with half a brain actually cares about how tan he is or whether he had a manicure or not? If you actually paid attention to Kerry's answers, you would see that he did not really answer the questions in a clear and concise manner that made any sense. Plus he lied. We have not spent $200 billion dollars on Iraq. We have spent $93 billion to date. There is a defense budget of $200 billion, which includes cost for Afghanistan ($70 billion), so to tell the people of America that the war has cost us $200 billion is a flat out lie. He knows that. Perhaps the war would not have cost us so much if his party's previous administration had kept our military equipment and uniforms up to date.
And if his party is so concerned with nuclear proliferation, then why did the Clinton Administration sell nuclear secrets to the Chinese and sign the treaty with Korea without inspections. Come on, folks, it's not brain surgery.
Republicans don't even need to refer to Kerry as a flip flopper. Just try and make sense of his speeches in the last few months. You can't. Even Diane Sawyer in her interview with Kerry last week couldn't figure out what the heck he was saying, and she's a liberal.
In any case, this first debate only reitified what many of us already know: Kerry serves himself and his party first, not his country. And Bush is clearly the exact opposite.

dont let the libs get us off this topic. This was the key exchange of this debate and the defining moment of this election. The Global Test. This is what people will remember if we dont let anyone forget. Pass this site along so people can see it.

The world will hear a resounding answer to the "test" when we reelect George Bush next month. I think our media has so confused the world about our real thoughts and feelings they think Kerry might actually win.

I can see Kerry cramming the night before at The Hague studying to pass this holy global test
By Anonymous, at 11:54 AM
Did anyone see on Fox this morning (10/3) where a Kerry aid said that he never said anything about a global test, and the aid continued to call the Bush aid a lier when she brought it up?

Anyone noticed how liberals often resort to using CAPS LOCK to shout everything? When a person has a knowledgable, sensible point to express, no shouting is needed. Only those who cannot express themselves or who want to deny other's of their opinions must resort to shouting and screaming to be seen.

It's been great listening to all the "get tough" conservative pundits whine and make excuses. Face, W got spanked like a two-year-old at K-Mart. Kerry honed in and got points across with deadly accuracy and Bush hugged the podium and stammered with the nervous smile of a boy who's just been sent to the corner.
Two quotes from the razor sharp president: "Of course I knew it was Osama who attacked us" and the touching "we prayed, we cried, we had a few laughs".
I'm sure that Cheney will turn things around in the debates w/ Edwards. Yeah, right.....
