MTV Crowd Boos Kerry Daughters

Alexandra Kerry is on the Drudge Report again following her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. (This time minus the see-through dress)

From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail. Developing...

Notice that Alexandra takes after her haughty, French-looking father by instinctively shushing the little people in the crowd. Her slightly less haughty (and hottie) sister encourages her off mic to "hang with it."

    What a brain dead comment.

  • Man, what a little condesending beyotch! "Shush little children! The GROWN-UPS are speaking!" Jesus, I hope they soon become irrelevant on November 3rd.

  • What saddens me is that such a young, bright woman (I'm talking about the Recycler Blogger here) would choose not to use her talents to do something real for her candidate/party/whatever, but instead seems to choose to simply be another celebrity gossip columnist.

Because that's all this is - I don't give a shit if Kerry's daughters are booed; if Bush stood under a banner that said "Mission Accomplished"; if a Kerry supporter punched a Bush supporter; if Bush or Kerry fell of his bike; if a Bush lawyer helped the Swift Boat Vets, etc, etc.

It's all "celebrity" gossip bullshit that does nothing to educate the masses on the real issues, and turns American politics into a Jerry Springer show.

Hey, Recycler, if you mean this blog as a source of entertainment, you've succeeded - and I'll continue to give you hits to get my daily chuckle. But if you think your content is going to sway one vote in either direction, I think your methods are misguided.

Just my two cents, afforded me by the Constitution of this great country of ours.

    By Anonymous, at 9:51 AM

  • They should be booed for visual pollution. What ugly women!

    By Anonymous, at 10:01 AM

  • "What saddens me is that..."

Oh, climb off your high horse. You might think it's all nonsense, but this displays the same old thing from the left. They feel they can get up and say anything, and how dare someone have a critical comment about it. They always feel the right is their's and their's alone, to speak at any time and any place without the burden of a public reaction. It's called "no backbone". If you can't stand the reaction to your opinion, shut your pie hole.

    By Anonymous, at 10:29 AM

  • I just love the phrase "the Bush twins" much more pleasing than "the Kerry twins"
    It's more fun to say!

    By Anonymous, at 10:31 AM

  • Come on now folks, the girls aren't ugly... let's remember, they were on stage at the MTV music awards, a rabble of hooligans and ne'er-do-wells. The frontal-lobe meter barely moves with this crowd. They'd boo their own mother if she got between them and their beer bong.

Or as Obi-Wan observed... you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...

    By MEC2, at 10:33 AM

  • The brunette is definitely quite pretty. The blonde doesn't care about her appearance so much, but so what? Should everyone be vain and judgemental? I'm a republican, but I don't hesitate to say Hillary is beautiful even if I strongly disagree with her views. OK, maybe Janet reno and Helen Thomas are seriously scary looking but probably people should avoid discussing appearance when criticising them. People demonizing others for their looks is shameful and childish.

    By Anonymous, at 10:43 AM

  • Come on people who didn't see this coming they are in Miami. That would be like Bush giving an address in San Francisco and getting booed. I mean come on next story please. I just hope compassion out weighs the ignorance of a renegade president. Anyone who is kidding themselves thinking we are safer today needs to check their heads. Blair is about to be impeached Spain is gone and we have already thumbed our nose at France, Canada, and Germany. For all of you who think that the U.S. is Invulnerable just remember, all roads led to Rome once to.

    By Anonymous, at 10:45 AM

  • First off, they're not ugly. They do... well, you can see their father's genes in the facial length. But they're not ugly. The shush was and the 'this is important' seemed a bit snooty, at least to me. But the point of it all is and why it's making the rounds around the blogosphere is... well, the shock of it all. I was surprised to hear that the daughters of the DNC candidate for President were getting boo'd at an event of a decidedly left-wing outfit. I don't think it has to do with the crowd being anti-Kerry or pro-Bush. I think it has more to do with what Alice Cooper was getting at... don't mix music and politics.

    By Ohms, at 10:45 AM

  • Keep whistling past the graveyard Kerry fans.

    By Anonymous, at 10:45 AM

  • OhmsNice try but those people cheering in the front... Yeah those are the musicians.

    By Anonymous, at 10:52 AM

  • I watched the video several times. It seems to me that there were a lot more people applauding than booing. That would Kerry's daughter hushing the crowd. But it was a mistake for two of them to be there, anyway.

    After the inexcusable boorish behavior

Alice Cooper and the Swift Boat Vets! What a combo! Dumb and Dumber.

    By Anonymous, at 10:55 AM

  • They are the daughters of a sissy liberal, say, you think either one's wearing panties?

    By Anonymous, at 11:21 AM

  • But they are quite wretched. Looks as if they fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

    By Anonymous, at 11:22 AM

  • I didn't hear very much booing at all.

Of course, had I been there I would have booed their horrible fashion senses. I can't believe either would leave the house dressed so poorly.

    By Anonymous, at 11:24 AM

  • Please post a video of the Bush twins VMA speech.
They are fresh, charming, and cool.

    By Anonymous, at 11:27 AM

  • Hilary Clinton is beautiful??? You've got to be kidding, please tell me you're kidding! No wonder the Europeans think all American women are cows! Yep, have been to the MTV awards, up front and personal and yep, the fact that this young crowd boo'd is pretty significant - no, they aren't the best and the brightest, so the fact that they boo'd means they are sick of what the Kerry 'grrrls' represent .... privilege.

    By Anonymous, at 11:27 AM

  • This is significant, because the girls' elitist, privileged arrogance is a reflection of that of their parents'. The shushing goes hand in hand with JFK's finger pointing. At root is a serious superiority complex. In F'n's case, it goes as far as "you owe me this office; it's mine", and truth means nothing when it gets in the way of that pursuit.

    By Anonymous, at 11:33 AM

  • where's your video clip of the Bush daughters getting booed?

some say that the reason that the kids were booing and the reason that one of the kerry girls turned around after the outbreak of booing happened was because MTV jumped the gun and accidentally cut to the Bush girls on the huge screen behind them (which is why the director cut to the wide shot).

keeping getting your news from Drudge and you'll keep getting this sort of shoddy "news".

    By tony, at 11:34 AM

  • All these famous young people and rockers who are suddenly so interested in registering every 18-year-old to vote are so predictable. What at first seems like genuine concern for the democratic process and involving youth in decisions about society, quickly becomes just another I-hate-Bush diatribe. Bush twins excepted, of course. If they really wanted to encourage democracy, they'd just say register to vote and leave it at that. But noooooo, they have to keep going with tinfoil spasms about lies and imperialism and how this election will spell doom for the world if Bush is not thrown out. As Alice Cooper said so well, if ya listen to rock stars to decide who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are.

    By Anonymous, at 11:41 AM

  • I'm not quite sure why they were booed. Ten bucks says the dummies in the audience thought they were the Bush pigs, I mean sisters...

  • Just keep in mind that they were not booing Kerry's daughters, who don't deserve to get in the middle of this political fight. They were booing the girls' scumbag lying billionaire father John F'n K.

    By Anonymous, at 11:55 AM

  • At least the taller of the two didn't show up wearing the transparent frock she sported around Cannes thus saving Viacom from another "Janet Jackson" moment.

    By Anonymous, at 12:00 PM

  • It is a shame that the media outlets for young adults is so completely one sided and biased. I can't imagine how they would think it was ok to take an awards show, and use it for their platform. The naiveté and ignorance of most liberals frightens me.

    By Anonymous, at 12:01 PM

  • Tony - The Bush twins, daughters of a Republican, the President, get boo'd at a shindig thrown by a largely left-leaning outfit. /// The Kerry girls, daughters of the Democrat candidate for President get boo'd at a shin dig thrown by a largely left-leaning outfit.

Which one of these would you expect to happen? The daughters of the Democrat presidental candidate getting boo'd by leftwingers is, to say the least, surprising. As the old media saying goes... "No one reports about planes that land safely." The Kerry girls shouldn't've been boo'd. The fact that they were is news. Drudge or no Drudge.

    By Ohms, at 12:12 PM

  • They were booing BOTH sets of girls because they were TELLING THEM WHAT TO DO! Talking down to them.

The last thing MTVers want to hear, is *ANYONE* telling them what to do, let alone four extremely privileged brats preaching their ideas.

The entire idea is insulting and condescending. Frankly, I find it nauseating. I'm not at all surprised that the Kerry girls would do that, but I am surprised that the Bush twins got involved with that idiocy.

Who came up with this brilliant idea? Haven't we seen enough examples? Alice Cooper is absolutely correct. Miing politics and music is horible. Worse, mixing music with condescension and preachiness.

    By Anonymous, at 12:13 PM

  • Ohms You have got to be one of the most incredible posts I have ever read, and by incredible I mean incredibly stupid. #1 those left wingers you were talking about you know the ones that "RULE" Hollywood, watch the tape again and watch them cheering in the front. Second I will be the first to admit that Miami is a very republican city (why a city of immigrants would be I have no idea I guess its all the drug money that runs through there). And to all of you that like to comment about the Kerry daughters representing privilege... I don't think I could call the bush daughters too hard pressed either. Something tells me that coming from a family where your dad couldn't even get into UT let alone spell his name and yet still makes millions on a company that was getting ready to go under skews your perception a little. I would like to see some true debating on the FACTS and the PLATFORMS because that is one thing I have seen neither side do. But I supposed this painting of J. Kerry to look like a flip flopping horrid soldier is the only thing the Bush administration can do to win. Oh and all you guys that want to make this a "Liberal vs. Conservative" what about the huge amount of Hard line Conservatives that have came out for Kerry? Bush's policies are a travesty and any republican that can name any "flagship" policies the Bush administration along with a republican congress has passed bring it on.

    By Anonymous, at 12:35 PM

  • You notice the elitist stars were cheering for Kerry and the little people who need his help and hope so much were booing Kerry. The little people have more sense then money and Hollywood has more money then sense.
    GO FIGURE!

    By AuntiCraker, at 12:44 PM

  • You are the biggest bunch of brain dead inarticulate morons. The rediculously unattractive, whorish and boorish Bush twins were the targets of the booing. Even a two year old can figure that out. The audience was upset because they suggested they vote for their equally unattractive, boorish idiot father. Fucking morons.

    By Anonymous, at 1:11 PM

  • Oh! That reminds me, I'm out of apples and sugar cubes.

    Thanks,

    By Anonymous, at 1:20 PM

  • "Oh, climb off your high horse..."

And what high horse would that be? You seem to think I'm some leftist by the rest of your comments. If you read my post closely, you would have realized I was giving "equal time" to both candidates in my opinion that these trivial "news" stories are nothing more than "celebrity gossip." I don't give a shit if the stories are about Bush or Kerry - I'm saying the following things are trivial and inconsequntial to the real issues: booing, falling off a bike, standing under a banner, etc, etc... No one will learn anything about either candidate's issues through these stories.

I also don't give a flying fuck if either candidate is arrogant. Hell, they both are. I've never met a politician who wasn't.

I don't give a fuck if Kerry's wife is a millionaire arrogant bitch. I don't care if Bush's daughters are or are not drunkards. I don't care if some lawyer who worked for Bush also worked for the Swift Boat Vets. NONE OF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE WORK THESE MEN WILL HAVE TO DO OR HAVE DONE IN THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT!

What matters is policy. Not their wives' policy, not their lawyers' policy, not their daughters' policy - it's the candidates' policy and ideals that matter.

About the high horse, hey, I'm with everyone else - I love good gossip as much as the next blog-scouring geek. I devour these stories with relish, but that's because they're fast food, not substance.

    By Anonymous, at 1:31 PM

  • You make an excellent point. If only there were more logical people in this world.

    By Anonymous, at 2:13 PM

  • 12:35 (sorry, Anonymous doesn't exactly narrow it down) - Wow, what a stinging rebuke and thorough refutation there. Then the bits about immigrants being Republicans and the drug money... amazing. Amazing that you have the sack to call what someone else has to say as stupid then to follow it up with a statement like that. You do little more than say my post was stupid, then heap on all sorts of stuff on top that I didn't even mention.

I didn't mention the people cheering up front because they're not a part of the point. The point is, the Kerry girls shouldn't've been boo'd by anyone at an MTV event. They should've been cheered by everyone there (even by those other than the folks in the front you appear to be fixating on) not boo'd. Maybe a couple people booing them, I can understand. But the fact that enough people boo'd them to be audible on tape I found, and still find, surprising. If you have a problem with that, tough.

I for one, would honestly like to know why it happened. Was there a large group of anti-Kerry folks in the audience? Did the crowd mistake them for the Bush twins? Did the crowd just not want either candidate's kids mucking things up by mixing politics into this music-related event?

    By Ohms, at 2:23 PM

  • "if Bush stood under a banner that said "Mission Accomplished"

Did we set out to depose Saddam? Is that what happened? Perhaps that is why he had a banner that said "Mission Accomplished"...

    By Anonymous, at 3:26 PM

  • "I also don't give a flying f***..."

Wow...seems you don't care about much, inlcuding controling your anger. About that high horse...maybe it's just me, but you do seem to have a bit of a "more educated than thou" attitude. I reveiwed my post, don't see where I called you a leftie. I didn't. I have no idea what you call yourself. I just think you are smug. But that's ok.

Consider this. Kerry falls down skiing. This gossipy news is beneath you. But Kerry reveals himself when he then calls the SS guy tailing him an SOB for knocking him down. So, the guy whose job it is to take a bullet for Kerry is an SOB. What a classless thing to do, to publicly scold the man whose job it is to try hard to be a target. That little comment by Kerry, believe it or not, is the window into the candidate's character that the voters will respond to. Seems we here in common-land don't have the keen focus you types have in really figuring out what is important. We just size someone up and go from there. Too much to do 'round the trailer to study issues.

BTW, lovely language. Let me ask you. If your kid, or a close friend of yours had a kid, say 16 years old, and he was really interested in viewing the political talk in these public sites, would you be happy to learn that some person cursed at him that way? I mean, honestly, is that what you want to leave behind? Oh well, may be you don't care about that either.

    By Anonymous, at 3:42 PM

  • Bottom line: unfortunately, the last President we had who actually HAD to get up and go to work every day at one time in his life was Harry Truman. Every other president (Eisenhower was definitely not rich but the military was his career so that is different) has either been born to wealth or married it. Every single one. Carter inherited a valuable business and grew it, but he started with that nestegg. I for one am sick to death of rich people (and their families) in office - Democrat or Republican. I want someone who has had to mortgage their house (yeah, and just the ONE house they own, not one of four or five) to meet a payroll, or at the very least has had the experience of having someone hand them a paycheck, then looking at it and seeing that a HUGE chunk of it is already gone - gone to pay for the wages and benefits of politicians and bureaucrats. I don't like any of them.

    By Anonymous, at 4:19 PM

  • but when the Bush daughters appeared the booing got louder, longer and more raucous....noticed that this little tidbit got left out.

    By Anonymous, at 5:54 PM

  • Didn't watch the show, but hear that the bush sluts were booed also.

    By Anonymous, at 5:56 PM

  • This is what happened: The Kerry girls came on stage. The crowd started cheering. Suddenly, perhaps inadvertently, the Bush twins were shown in the monitor off stage right. The crow booed briefly. The Kerry girls started speaking again and suggested that anyone in the crowd not registered to vote register. They then suggested that everyone should vote for their father and the crowd erupted in cheers.

  • "haughty, French-looking" is only a "brain-dead comment" because it hits home so uncomfortably for the person who made that comment. I'm sure that the person who left that comment has made similarly, if not much more, disparaging comments about President Bush. Personally, I think the whole thing is basically pro-wrestling style politics. It's all made up, there's a "good side" and a "bad side" with fanatically devoted individuals and groups pledging allegiance to whichever they prefer. Meanwhile, our freedoms, liberties, and lives are controlled items in the hands of a few of the rich and powerful who orchestrate the whole thing to entertain us into the belief that we have any input at all in what goes on in this country. The concept of "Team America" is great, because it corretly illustrates Bush, Kerry, and their whole crew as marionettes, their strings being pulled by unseen "puppet masters."

    By Anonymous, at 6:27 PM

  • Much as I'd like to think the boos were for the Kerry girls, I suspect they followed the appearance of the Bush girls on the backscreen. Thoughts?

BTW, Kerry is a hollow man, NO ONE is making the case FOR him - he's just a door back to the halls of power for his supporters. If anyone can correct me here, I'll pay attention, just point the way.

    By Anonymous, at 7:33 PM

  • I heard the brunette usually wears a traditional Muslim head scarf, but MTV made her take it off for the show.

    By Anonymous, at 7:36 PM

  • I was watching it live, and the Bush girls were not booed to any degree like the Kerry girls. The people booing the loudest were the regular folks in the cheap seats.

Also note that by far the loudest boos were when Vanessa, the blonde Kerry, said "and hopefully that you'll vote for our father." at 0:21 of the video clip.

    By Anonymous, at 8:06 PM

  • That video does NO justice to the sound of the boos. They were extremely loud. Did anyone notice how the girls turned around towards the screen behind them thinking the Bush twins had come up and THAT was why the boos were happening?

And to those who thought that it is just pop-culture trash that doesn't deserve attention, apparently both Bush and Kerry thought it was worthy because their daughters made appearances.

I think it is great that an audience of kids who are slapped in the face daily with liberal left star's comments still showed THEIR opinions.

    By Anonymous, at 8:57 PM

  • That sure wasn't as bad as the title made it seem. If that's the worst someone can come up with, I must be on the right side.

Since Recycler seems to be new to this game, I'd like a blog entry which states a few reasons which have to do with why she would vote for GW. What are his qualities? What have his 4 years shown? That sort of thing.

    By Anonymous, at 8:57 PM

  • I had to post again. It really is funny. Currently, it's in fashion to talk about Kerry's war record. If it's a debate between war records, lay out the facts and we'll all decide. If the debate is suddenly going to turn to the daughters of the presidential candidates, lay it out. It would be at least mildly amusing to compare the Bush girls records.

  • I bet many young people commenting on this piece of news don't even pick up a newspaper and just take whatever is spoonfed to them by the media via Fox news. Let's break away from mediocrity people and see that the real issue is that our world is headed for a downward spiral unless the next president understands the importance of the interdependent nature of the global arena (which George failed to do from the onset of his presidency). For those of you bashing the Kerry sisters as "haughty and french-looking"...maybe if you were standing in front of thousands of people plus millions of viewers I'm sure people would say a lot worse about you. To do what they did takes guts and they rose to the occasion.

    By Anonymous, at 9:05 PM

  • I'll grant it's not kind to attack anyone for their looks, but as far as attitude determines looks, I thought the K girls were really smarmy and patronizing.

If it's going to be a betting game, I'd be willing to bet the poster above is one of the Kerry girls or one of the entourage of same!

The rage against Fox News "We report, you decide" is a cry of pain from those who formerly held the information monopoly as arrows of objective truth strike deep into dark places. I'm hearing some of the same shrieks wrung out by the SwiftVets' brave publishing of the reasons for their concerns that John Kerry is unfit for command.

The statement that "the real issue is that our world is headed for a downward spiral unless the next president understands the importance of the interdependent nature of the global arena" is absurd. Our current president understands the nature of good and evil, and he is taking resolute action to protect our individual American skins from evil.

Kerry supporters: the kidnappers and beheaders do not tremble before weakness and indecision!

Let's all take to heart the admonition to " not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good".

    By Anonymous, at 9:40 PM

  • This blogger exemplifies [to the T] why our country is so fucked up. Why is ANYONE on this thing arguing so intensly one way or the other? Politicians are politicians are politicians... neither one is perfect. Both of them lie..and actually, so does just about EVERYONE in the damn world.

Not one of you (I'm sure) knows either of these men, their true intentions or their true agendas...NONE OF YOU. So, instead of sitting online ranting about things nobody really has a definite idea about, get out there and make things happen -- not just by learning more about BOTH candidates AND THEIR ADMINISTRATION (because I hope we all know presidents are mostly figureheads), but by becoming the answers; be active in government. Myself included, of course.

Best of luck. Stop fighting -- nothing will come of that. have intelligent conversation; ask questions in earnest; nobody has definite answers so don't think you know something for sure because you've seen it on CNN or FOX, or watched it from Michael Moore or whomever the republican countepart is. When november comes, you shouldn't be voting for one because you're angry with the other or you think their daughters are ugly; you should be voting as objectively as possible for the president you honestly believe will resolve our present issues.

It's a true fact. So, why do you think that is?

The hard sciences require absolutes. Liberal arts is however you interpret it.

I've never met a person yet that says they're voting for Kerry because they've researched his background and truly understand his position on matters. Believing, therefore, that he'd be a better president.
So far all are voting for Kerry because they're against Bush. However, most can't provide specifics past their rhetoric and really don't care to know anything about what they're blabbering. Any idiot can spew garbage.

Against the War? So that means you're against Bush? John Kerry's position is no different than the President's.

Liberal = Anyone without values, ethics, and good character. One who is morally bankrupt. A socialist. A God-hater. A decadent human being.

    By Anonymous, at 1:10 AM

  • Actually, the Kerry sisters and Bush sisters were introduced almost simultaneously. I suspect (given the sterotypical MTV crowd is somewhere left of Karl Marx) that the boos were for the Bush sisters, and applause for the Kerry sisters. I believe the Kerry sisters were demonstrating their integrity and class by trying to get the audience to quiet down and show some class and integrity themselves (an MTV audience: Class? Integrity? BWAAHAHAHAH... uh, anyway). I give the Kerry sisters points for trying, and the MTV audience - as usual - demonstrates yet again what boorish and insipid monied low-lifes they are.

  • I think the previous statements criticizing the Recycler are simply sour grapes at what was clearly presented by the Kerry daughters themselves, on live television. It doesn't affect whom I'm voting for in this election, but it is definitely a reflection of their father and his elitist pedigree. A "populist" millionaire whose wife's assets are in the billions is not in touch with the common man, and neither are his daughters. Thank God for live television otherwise I seriously doubt Viacom would have let the nation see what happened that night. "Sunlight is the best disinfectant,"...indeed.

  • Um, dude, the crowd was booing the Bush girls who had just come onscreen in the background. Vanessa was sticking up for the Bush girls!

Ohmigod, you're such JERKS for trying to spin this when they were being utterly gracious and going out of their way to bring down the crowd's hostility.

    >>...the last President we had who actually HAD to get up and go to work every day at one time in his life was Harry Truman.

    >> Eisenhower was definitely not rich but the military was his career so that is different

So exactly what are you trying to say?? The military do not work? Their work isn't important? They don't do it every day? Personally, I find this comment offensive!

I have never had the awesome responsibility of defending my country due to health conditions that prevented me from serving. However, I honor those who do with my deepest respect! They put their lives on the line every day so that we can sit here and opine about whether the Kerry girls are beautiful or ugly, and so you can complain about the rich!

And regarding that little bit of wisdom... how many poor people ever gave you a job? Do you really want to work for someone less wealthy than yourself? I'm not rich; my parent's probably never made more than 30-40k together in all the years of my youth. But I've worked hard to get my education and to further my career and I'm doing ok for myself and my family. If you'd spend more time making the most of the skills and talents you have and less time bellyaching about what others have earned (*most* of the very wealthy people in this country did NOT start that way), you might even be one of those rich people that others complain about!

But that takes some work... it's easy to complain about what others have. It's harder to go make it happen for yourself.

However, you did have one comment that I definitely agree with... I'm sick and tired of the confiscatory taxes we pay in this country, and I'm tired of the loopholes that allow the very rich and the very poor to escape. Tell congress you want to bring home your ENTIRE PAYCHECK! See http://www.fairtax.org for details...

  • I don't understand why so many people are in an uproar over what was said. All the Kerry and Bush sisters had to do was read allowed what MTV writers told them to say. And considering both sisters added the "vote for my dad", that was likely scripted too.

And, no offence, but people who spend too much money to go to a MUSIC VIDEO award show aren't really worth all the hullabaloo over anyway. "Hey, those are the girls of the candidate my dad doesn’t like! Boo!" or even more likely, "Hey, I was going to buy that dress, but now I can't because she's already wearing it! BOOO!"

I hope this blogger’s next post doesn’t contain the name "Michael Moore" with "Republican National Convention"

If taxes are lowered even more then the country loses health care privileges, education funding, military funding etc. America's already spent billions more than it has and now has to spend billions more to repair the damages done in other countries and continue fighting the "war on terror" in middle-eastern, oil-wealthy countries. How can any president support the war on terror and lower taxes?

The girls also had to remind people to register to vote.
Isn't that disgraceful that americans need to be reminded to vote?

    Everyone else:

Voting is what gives you your freedom. Freedom is an achievement not a product. It also requires carful thought and research. You don't pick a leader based on looks. It's done by weighing their morals, standards and achievements.

2nd, when did it become so wrong for anyone to support their father, and/or mother and/or family?

Want to argue this post? Fine, but remember it's freedom that allows you to do so.

Ha ha ha ha ha! I can't believe that you are stooping down to an uneducated comment like that. You see when you lower taxes you get an effect called "trickle down economics", where basically you give tax payers more of a reason to spend their cash, thereby increasing productivity, thereby giving the people even more reason to spend there money, and finally increasing the cash flow to the government. I wish that some people would actually research what they preach instead of parroting what there hear.

I've heard time and time again all the complaints without anyone really having a justification of what they are talking about. If it had not for these Kerry type Liberals, we would have won vietnam politically as well as our military victory. If wasn't Nixon that started the War, but JFK. Get your facts strait. The Job loss was due to the signing of N.A.F.T.A in 1994 during Clintons run. War is never popular, but should we pat our enemies on the back, lol. Contradicting!!!

I feel sorry for clever intellectual Americans whether Republican or Democrat. I've visited America over 40 times on business but I'd absolutely hate to live in your country because it is so full up with shallow consuming morons in every spectrum of politics.

So you get just two candidates to vote for with WWF style campaigning because that is about all the sophitication most Americans are capable of handling. Shall I vote for Candidate A or Candidate B to run this nation of 280m people? Duh! Have I punched the right chard?

I support Bush because he is going after the people who want to come after us. I don't want to have to stand in front of my house with my AK and defend it, because someone wants to be "less insulting" to terrorists. There are some things that I don't like about Bush either...but right now we need the best "Reagan" clone that we can get...and I wish that people would go to the Libertarian website to see what we have to offer America. The Democrats have had power for too long and want to keep it any way possible, and the Republicans didn't know what to do with it now that they have had the power for 8 years. Time to inject some fresh blood into our Government. Show the Dems and the Reps that this Country is STILL "by the people, for the people"!

So if I’m such an idiot and lower taxes are working for people, why are Americans losing jobs? Why is it that 13 American states have child poverty rates between 20 and 30%? The number of Americans without insurance or with inadequate insurance is twice the population of Canada, plus 21 million additional people. The U.S. ranks 27th among developed countries for poverty rates, and in terms of fair distribution of income, came in 31 place out of 32 countries. And in terms of public education spending, America Is 14th among high human development countries.

To connect the dots: Most countries who have lower poverty rates than the U.S have higher taxes and higher GDP growth rates. The trickle down economics plan should generally work in theory, but if you really want health care, education, and lower poverty rates, I still suggest raising taxes to increase funding.

  • If the Kerry girls were not getting booed, why did they seem so flustered and angry? The Kerry girls were there in person because they expected to get a rip-roaring reception. The Bush twins were on a video feed because they expected to get a poor reception.

I support President Bush 100%, but it saddens me to read some of the comments here. To make crass remarks about their appearance reflects poorly on you, not on them. They are lovely girls who are supporting their father, which is exactly what they should be doing. It's not their fault that the ship is sinking.

    By Anonymous, at 8:06 PM

  • As much as it would normally pain me to say it, the conservatives just won't get the youth vote. And this video is a great example. Like latinos, there are a significant percentage that lean conservative, but by the time they hit voting age they also hit college, that's just the way it is. There will be a sizeable minority of conservative voters but what they obviously can't stand from either side is somebody telling them what to do (the endorsements).

What this clip clearly shows is:
    1. Initial cheers - for the Kerry's
    2. Boos when the Bush's appear behind them (note looking over the shoulder at the screen).
    3. A huge corus of cheers when the Bush's are taken down (note then the blank screen).
    4. A decided mix when the conservatives boo back (after the endorsement of Kerry), and then more when the Bush's come back on-screen (nearer to the end).

The "shush-ing" obviously was done in jest (note the smile) and she's shushing the cheers as well so she can speak.

There is nothing you can contribute to an honest, moral, and meaningful conservative movment with this. This is low.

  • Hey Kerry daughters, why the long faces?

    By Anonymous, at 11:02 AM

  • I find it hypocritical of people bashing this column for posting this event. People often write things in order to spur up debate and cause controversy, which the coloumnist is doing a good job of. Some of you people are just so caught up in thinking that you're above everyone and casting your opinion on the columnist to see that it worked. Who is the bigger fool, the fool or the people who try change the fool?

However Politicians and MTV just want to get in on using Star Power like Arnold did with California. Actors/Musicians/Polictians. What is the difference? They don't have the worries that most americans do, they are not grounded in reality, they all read lines, and they put on a good show. You would think that they would learn from the Dixie Chick fiasco, but I guess not.

Personally, I would like to see a formal debate or at least a list of their stances and plans for the next 4 years. However, america has grown to love Jerry Springer and being entertained with negativity, so both campains are playing off of that. Bill Clinton wasn't a great president, he was just good at entertaining people with his charisma. Personally, I don't want my tax money going to pay for a president's personal blow job assistant.

As for saying wives don't matter, thats very foolish to think that. As first lady, they are a representative of this country to other countries. I don't want to see Mrs. Kerry punching a diplomat because she lost her temper. She is a very strange and liberal woman with her own agenda, even by most liberal standards. Do not think for a second that she won't abuse any power she has to implement her beliefs.

Another thing that people have missed the point on. I would not pay for a concert if I have to hear political views from a musican, when I am paying to see him play. Same with the VMA's. People are there for the music, not political agenda. Everyone wants our vote, but for the most part, we don't really have anyone that really respresents the youth and our opinions. Not Bush and definitly not John Kerry. I can trust bush to be an idiot with some of his policies, but I can't trust Kerry at all.

Personally I would like to cut all the salaries for CEO and politicans in this country so they can not make more than the highest paid hourly employee. Then make them stuck using our social security system and health care system so that they are a little more cautious in the way they vote. Politicans have their own retirement and health care plan, so they can screw us but never have to worry like we do. Maybe they would show up less at events like VMA's and spend more time working on creating solutions and talking policy.

  • I wanted to see what all the "Booing" was about and happened to stumble onto this website. After viewing the video clip and reading most of the posted comments, which I found disturbing, ridiculous and irrational, I decided to post my own opinion and dedicate it to all of the people who posted here.

Dear People Who Posted Their Comments on This Website:

We are all Americans, coexisting in a country that’s diverse in so many ways. It's great isn't it? It's what happens to make our country so unique and great. Unfortunately at the present moment are great country is much divided on so many issues it brings out the worst in all of us and by reading your comments here it definitely shows. Now I don't know how any of you people look - I don't need to - but what you people are doing here is personally attacking someone, putting them down based on their looks or economic privilege or sharing your twisted and distorted sick thoughts degrading American women.

You people are representing yourselves in a way that’s so negative it's a disgrace. I can't tell you people what to say and what not to. I stand by the freedom of free speech. And within the powers I have within me I can and will tell you this:

Why don't you people start trying to be a little more intelligent? Be a little more civil and respectful, start sticking with the facts, get a little more educated and try to work together and start turning one bad thing into a good one for the benefit of all Americans? It’s time to wake up because the whole world is looking at us. It’s always better to keep the trash in a trash can with the lid on it.

John Kerry is going to help get this once great nation back on it's feet, and help get back some the 1.5 million jobs that were lost thanks to George Bush and his failing attempt to be a president. Just remember he did not win this presidency; he stole it from Al Gore; with the help of his brother Jeb. Wake up and get the facts, learn whats best for your country, and George "W" Bush is not it!!!

I shutter at the thought of Al Gore as president during 9/11. You can thank you're pal Clinton for encouraging the NAFTA agreement which help to set the stage for sending jobs overseas. John Kerry is a part of that party. So when John Kerry taxes the rich, who do you think is going to pay for that? The rich? haha, the rich will do what they always do and pass that burden onto us little people to keep up their standard of living. If you increase their taxes they will only cut more jobs. If they can still make more money by sending jobs overseas than they lose in paying taxes they will still do it. The only way to stop that now is to do away with greedy CEO's or put laws into place that stop international and internal outsourcing and that will never pass the senate floor. You can't stop change. Our survival lies in adapting through entrenpenuers and small businesses.

You say list the facts, then list all the facts and proof. Lets not forget the media jumped the gun in florida even when their own numbers at the bottom of the screen said that Bush was ahead in florida (ABC's numbers contradicted Peter Jennings as he said Gore had won Florida). George Bush may not be the best, but he is the best we have right now when compared to Kerry and his eccentric family who wear see-through clothes to a red carpet event and lies more than the average politican even by Ted Kennedy standards.

I don't want a commander and chief who is not going to support american troops. If you don't agree with the war, thats fine. But don't you ever turn your back on your own people and Kerry has down that during the Veitnam war and in his voting in the senate. That is why most veterans are pissed, not because of his purple heart, but because of the things he said on his fellow troops. Friendly fire can come from someone's mouth as if it was a stray bullet.

If you don't like the truth, move to Canada.

First off it's called trickle down economics because it takes time, the reason there is a higher poverty rate is because of Bill "Tax Master" Clinton. We are coming out of a recession caused by him, as well as from the terror attacks on the WTC. Also, just curious, where do you get your info? The (C)ommunist (N)ews (N)etwork? • Well, the video clip here doesn't show the full bit-I never saw the Bush girls (why don't you show the entire clip?), but it's not so complicated, I think. What happened is simply a reflection of the political climate of our country - with each candidate showing about a 50% approval rating, in the most heated race I've ever seen in my lifetime (I'm 34). So mixed applause and booing only makes sense. At least it's good that it seems that many Americans really care about the election this time, and I hope that it leads to more than roughly 30% of citizens coming out to vote this time! Is everyone posting here going out to vote?!

I'm not commenting on my political leanings, but I will say this...WHAT BOTHERS ME ABOUT THIS BIT OF NEWS Is....why anyone in this day and age would feel that MTV is some kind of leftist media outlet that attracts liberals or could possibly matter to this race is beyond me. I stopped watching MTV about 2 years ago because I couldn't stand it anymore. It's owned by a huge media corporation and has nothing to do w/ much of anything (especially not music!) except celebrity, T&A, money, and titilation (aimed at teens and men like that 50 year old+ poster above who's comment was "he'd do all 4 of 'em, preferably at the same time...") As a matter of fact, his comment probably sums up the political concerns of 99% of VMA viewers, so even trying to draw politics into the realm of MTV viewers anymore was ridiculous. Puh-lease. It's like Entertainment Tonight these days (not remotely like the MTV of the early '80s, which might've truly cared...maybe).

As for the election, everyone should just stop debating the looks, noses, and do-ability of these women as if that counts for political opinion, and take themselves to the voting booth. I know I will.

I am damn embarassed. Our country is so awesome and we have such potential - and seriously, if there was a worthy Republican runnning (i.e. John McCain) they'd get my vote....but there is not. John Kerry has done his homework, he hasn't relied on a network of good 'ol boys and "daddy" to get him where he is today.

  • Good evening!

I'm european and work all around the european union and, may I say, you can't find A SINGLE PERSON (regardless of their age, job, race, religious belief, etc) in this whole continent that is near of supporting Bush. Nobody ever believed that he even won the first election legally! As long as I know, I'm afraid the great majority of the african and south american countries feel the same, as well as many asian ones. WHY? Now, where do I begin?...

    1. He wasn't even supposed to be president!! He strictly opposed to confirm his "election" or recount the votes! If he didn't have anything to hide, he wouldn't have said no.

    2. He doesn't have the PROFILE (that includes political posture, brightness, general knowledge and common sense, the least) that is necessary to be president, especially one of a huge and powerful country as the USA. It affects the whole world.

    3. Bush-supporters, don't feel offended, but he is truly ignorant. It simply is a fact. And he's proved he's ignorant SO many times that we easily lose count of. My favourite is "I thought SLAVERY was still LEGAL in Brazil!" - oh dear! Not even in your own continent, honey...
(Is there any "Top 100 Stupid Things Bush Said" site? I could use a laugh...)

    4. After Bush became president, the whole world concluded that ANYONE can be the president in the United States of America, no matter if he/she got the majority of the votes, no matter if he/she legally deserves the presidency, no matter if he/she has the CAPACITY and the SKILLS desperatly needed for the job. Just about any moron can get there. All you need is money, a famous and devoted father and all the "conections" that are needed...

    5. Well, I can't stay up all night writting this stuff, so I better get to the saddest and most disgusting part: the killing.
The 9/11 terrorist attack was so sad, repulsive and revolting.. more than words can tell, and I pray for the families that were left without father, mother, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters or friends on that day. I wish them strenght to live on.
Now, more revolting than the attack, was that 9/11 was the BEST THING that could have ever happened politically to Bush! During his vacations (the longest vacations ANY US president EVER had, AND not even 6 months after "winning" the elections!!!!!!!! I would be ashamed of having such a president, whether he's conservative or liberal!!!!!!!!!) he completely I-G-N-O-R-E-D all the informations that were given to him about the terrorist training in the US and the threats!! Also, all of Bush's popularity just DIDN'T EXIST before the 9/11, when he started incarnating hollywood heroes, saying things like: "We're gonna get them!!" "They're gonna pay!!". And them the whole speech mentality resurrected the ridiculously straight, reasoningless middle ages logic, dividing the world in 2: the "good guys" and the "bad guys" (guees who's the leader of the good guys... duh!). Bush did nothing but STIMULATE FEAR and PREJUDICE in the heart of the americans.
And then, after finding out the terrorist threat came from Afghanistan, he attacks... IRAQ????????????????????????????? Dear God... This man is, above all, untrustworthy.
And then again, when he started the war, telling the world he didn't give a damn if the United Nations supported him or not, things got SO much worse. American soldiers and many inocent victims died - because of Bush. When he finally caught Saddam Hussein, Iraq was a complete chaos - actually, it still is. Bush didn't do what he had to do, although he repeats it all the time in his speeches (repeating an idea until it becames the truth is the oldest convincing strategy in mankind). What Bush did wasn't even well done, to the point that Iraq appears to be the next Vietnam. And in this last few months... he has the AUDACITY to even come to the United Nations and ask for help?? Bush is begging the UN to clean all the blood he shed and turn that ruined piece of land whose people don't trust anyone who even speaks english into a democratic and independent country?? IS THIS THE MAN YOU WANT FOR PRESIDENT??

    6. The whole new concept of a PREVENTIVE WAR is the most ridiculous and most DANGEROUS things one could have ever thought of!!!!! If other st*pid presidents start new "preventive wars" from now on, we may suffer huge global disasters!! His hands are full of blood of THOUSANDS, the heads of the attacks are still "on the road" and all his attitude as a president just disgusts me.

7.If you KNEW Bush was going to start a WAR for NO REASON, would you have voted him for president?

    8. It was way proved that Saddam didn't harm anyone but his own people. Obviously, he was a horrible person, but does Bush have the right to PLAY GOD? Because if he does, why doesn't he worry about Tibet??? It's the most adorable people (they refuse to fight and harm anyone)who ar
